Major traffic curbs are in place in central Delhi on Friday for the Vande Mataram 150th anniversary celebrations.

The event, hosted by the Ministry of Culture, will be held at the Indira Gandhi Stadium Complex.

Around 11,000 invitees are expected to attend, prompting extensive security and traffic measures across the city.

Traffic restrictions and diversions will remain active from 5 am to 2 pm, police said.

Roads likely to be affected include Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, JLN Marg, MG Marg, Indraprastha Marg, Vikas Marg, Secretariat Road, and Velodrome Road.

Adjacent routes connecting Rajghat, Shanti Van, Geeta Colony Flyover, and Delhi Gate may also face congestion.

Commuters are advised to avoid these areas and plan alternate routes to prevent delays.

Entry to the stadium will be regulated through designated gates —East: Gates 1, 2, 3, 7, 8 via Velodrome RoadWest: Gates 19, 21, 22, 23 via MG Marg/Ring Road.

Parking is strictly prohibited on major nearby roads including Velodrome, Secretariat, and Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg.

Delhi Police warned that vehicles parked in restricted zones will be towed and may face legal action.
