Indian Cricket Team is unbeatable on their home ground especially on Test matches. This phrase was once again provided after the culmination of the recent red ball Test match series which occurred between India and Bangladesh. The Indian side led by Rohit Sharma has successfully secured a series win against Bangladesh, which was led by Najmul Hossain Shanto by 2/0. However, besides the winning streak of the Indian cricket team, another drastic thing which has been seen in this series is that the rankings regarding tests have drastically changed.
What are the drastic changes that have occurred regarding the ranking?
A drastic change was seen from the basis of the Bangladesh Cricket Team in this process. After whitewashing Pakistan in their own backyard by 2/0, the Bangladesh team has climbed up to the 4th rankings, where everyone was expecting them to be at least in the top 3 after the Test series against India, considering their brilliant performance against a strong Pakistan side. However, they have shattered all hopes after a poor performance in this series, which led them to fall drastically to the 7th spot of the ongoing Test rankings.
Meanwhile, regarding India, nothing has changed; actually, they are still in the no-one spot on the Test rankings. Another question, meanwhile, asked by the fans that how these Test match rankings will impact the qualification process for both of the teams in the ICC World Test Championship, which is a battle between the top 2 teams of the ICC Test rankings.
How will it impact the ICC World Test Championship qualification?
For Bangladesh, the ICC world Test championship qualification is in jeopardy and involves of lot of calculations and complex processes after their series loss against India. They have to win their remaining Test match series, which are against a strong South Africa and West Indies; not only do they have to win, but they also have to look forward to the performance of other teams if they want to secure the top 2 spots for qualifying on the World Test Championship final.
Regarding India’s Test series win against Bangladesh, they seem to be in a pretty good position compared to the Bangla Tigers. They need to secure just 3 or 4 Test wins, which will automatically help them to be in the top 2 rankings and see themselves playing the final for the third consecutive time in the ICC World Test Championship.
