The International Cricket Council (ICC) has been hosting the Twenty20 International cricket competition known as the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup since 2007. The men’s T20 World Cup of ICC is a cricket tournament that was decided to play with an overs limit of 20 overs for each side, and it is known to be one of the most thrilling formats with huge ups and downs.

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is generally presented by the International Cricket Council (ICC) administrator, and it is a classic trophy like ICC has for each tournament they hosts. This year, the tournament was set to take place in the West Indies and USA, and it has been estimated to be the biggest of all the T20 tournaments since 20 teams are participating in it.

There will be 20 teams playing in the competition with all the best players they have in their team for this format of cricket. It has been seen that New Zealand was the first team to announce their team for this tournament, and Pakistan was the last team to announce their team for this tournament. Further, the teams are Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, Canada, England, India, Ireland, Namibia, Nepal, Netherlands, New Zealand, Oman, Papua New Guinea, Pakistan, Scotland, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Uganda, United States and West Indies. Hence, the main question that arises is, “Which team will lift the Trophy in this season of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup?”

Guyana National Stadium (Providence), Guyana

The first venue for the tournament in the West Indies is the Providence Stadium, a facility situated on the east bank of the Demerara River, a few kilometers south of Georgetown, the capital of Guyana, and was constructed in 2006 in anticipation of the Cricket World Cup 2007. The large number of supporters that frequent the venue like the grassy mounds at the cover/backward square-leg boundary, and there are shaded stands surrounding the remaining portion of the ground.

Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados

Located west of the capital of Barbados, the Kensington Oval is the largest permanent arena in the Caribbean, with a capacity of 28,000. The venue has hosted cricket matches for more than 120 years, dating back to 1895 when international touring teams played there. Further, this venue is set to host the first half of Group B matches and also the final match of the tournament.

Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua

The Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, which is located 15 minutes away from St. Johns, the capital of Antigua, was constructed in advance of the 2007 Cricket World Cup and played host to six Super 8 matches. Further, this ground will also hold the important league matches for the tournament.

Brian Lara Cricket Academy, Tarouba, Trinidad and Tobago

The Brian Lara Cricket Academy is the main cricket pitch in Trinidad and Tobago that took the place of Guaracara Park in Pointe-a-Pierre in 2008. It is situated near Tarouba, on the outskirts of San Fernando in southern Trinidad. Having one of the most interesting batting conditions on the pitch, it will challenge the teams.

Arnos Vale Ground, Arnos Vale, St Vincent

The Arnos Vale Ground is a multipurpose venue that also accommodates football and has been the site of international cricket matches since 1981. Situated in Arnos Vale, a short distance from Kingstown, the stadium can accommodate 18,000 spectators and will be one of the venues for the T20 World Cup 2024 matches starting on June 13 between Bangladesh and the Netherlands.

Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet, St Lucia

On the fringes of Rodney Bay, the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium is named after the nation’s favorite cricketer, who led the West Indies to a second T20 World Cup triumph in 2016. The ground was given its name after the Beausejour Hills, which provided a stunning backdrop for the event from 2002 to 2016.

Central Broward Park & Broward County Stadium, Florida

One of just two specialised cricket stadiums in the USA is the Central Broward Park & Broward County Stadium is a sizable county park located in Lauderhill, Florida. Broward County is the owner and operator of it and it has the capacity of 10,000 to 15,000 audience at a time and has corning edges for having an exciting game of cricket.

Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York

The stadium, situated in New York, will host various exciting games from the tournament. On June 3, the inaugural Group D match at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium will feature a match between South Africa and Sri Lanka. Also scheduled to take place on June 9 at the 34,000-seat stadium is the highly anticipated match between India and Pakistan, longtime rivals.

Grand Prairie Cricket Stadium, Texas

Grand Prairie Stadium, also known as The Baseball in Grand Prairie and QuikTrip Park, is a former baseball and cricket field located in Grand Prairie, Texas. The Texas AirHogs of the American Association of League Baseball called it home from 2008 to 2019, and it opened in May of that year 2008.

The Different Groups for ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024

All the 20 teams are divided into five different groups within which they will play their matches and the top two teams in any group will be qualified for the Quarter Finals or the knockout stage according to their points. Further, the league matches will start from June 2, 2024, and the last date for league matches will be on June 18, 2024 and the last match will be between West Indies and Afghanistan. From June 19, 2024, the knockout stage will start, and the first round is the Quarter Finals named “Super Eight,” while the Semi Final will start on June 27, and the final to be played on June 29, 2024. 

Group A

The first group, which is named Group A, will have five different teams, including India, Pakistan, Ireland, Canada, and the USA. This group has two of the best teams in the world which is India and and Pakistan, which have a known rivalry around the world. The Indian team will be led by Rohit Sharma, with the vice-captain as Hardik Pandya. The Pakistan team will be led by Babar Azam. Also, the Ireland team will be led by Paul Stirling, the Canada team will be led by Saad Bin Zafar, and the USA team will be led by Monank Patel.

Group B

The second group, which is named Group B, will have teams that include England, Australia, Namibia, Scotland and Oman. Further, this group has two of the giants for the t20 format of cricket, that is, England and Australia, while the England team will be led by Jos Buttler, and the Australian team will be led by Mitchell Marsh. Also, Namibia, Scotland, and Oman are led by Gerhard Erasmus, Richie Berrington, and Aqib Ilyas, respectively.

Group C

Further, Group C will include teams: New Zealand, West Indies, Afghanistan, Uganda and Papua New Guinea. In this group, New Zealand and West Indies are the strongest competitors, where they have shown the world their magic in T20 formats. Further, New Zealand and the West Indies are led by Kane Williamson and Rovman Powell, respectively. Also, Afghanistan, Uganda, and Papua New Guinea are led by Rashid Khan, Brian Masaba, and Assadollah Vala, respectively.

Group D

Group D will include teams: South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Netherlands and Nepal. This group has teams that have been average in international tournaments while they have a world-class squad. South Africa, led by Aiden Markram, and Sri Lanka, led by Wanindu Hasaranga, are one of the best teams in this group. Bangladesh, led by Najmul Hossain Shanto, is also a team that has come back stronger with their team to its ultimate form. Also, the Netherlands, led by Scott Edwards, and Nepal, led by Rohit Paudel, have shown some amazing cricketing wonders in recent tournaments.
