Gaganyaan mission background

The Gaganyaan mission was first approved by PM Modi on August 15, 2018. After getting approval from the Cabinet, ISRO makes sure that the human spaceflight program is satisfied with every requirement or need. In this context, it was observed that India successfully developed anti-state different building blocks which were reentry space capsule safe crew rejection mechanisms ted about the test.

This will effectively handle any critical circumstances or situations in case of rocket failure. Additionally, the defence bioengineering and electromedical laboratory further developed a flight suit and a powerful GSLV-MKIII vehicle. However, this show hopes to deploy This biggest rocket for this famous project. The Indian government funded 10,000 crore for this project, considered one of the cheapest flights in the world.

Initially, the Gaganyaan mission is planned to send a member crew for five to seven days in the year 2022, on the 75th  independence day of India. In this context, it was informed by the Union Minister of Science and Technology that the human spaceflight of Gaganyaan Will be launched after two unmanned missions. It was planned to launch the first unmanned mission in the year 2021, however, it was delayed due the COVID-19.

Gaganyaan mission aim

The actual plan of Gaganyaan was for ISSOs. Under this schedule, the agency plans to send three flights into the orbit. Where two were unmanned flights one was human spaceflight. This system module is known as the Orbital module, where the agency is planning to send three Indian astronauts, including a woman. This system aims to circle the Earth at a low-earth orbit for 5-7 days from 300-400 km of altitude.

However, India plans to call its astronauts “Vyomnauts”. The meaning of “Vyom” in Sanskrit is space. With this mission, India will be able to achieve its new success in space. Therefore, with this mission, the country will become the fourth country after Russia, the US and China who send humans to space. In July 2019, Israel’s human spacecraft centre and Russia’s Gloves, which was the subsidiary of Los Cosmos, signed an agreement to provide training to the Indian astronauts and for medical examination. Along with this Glavkosmos also contracted with NPP Zvezda to manufacture customised IVA flight suits for the Indian astronauts.

Gaganyaan astronaut travel to ISS

Recently IAF showed the glims of the astronaut selected for the Gaganyaan mission in its 91st anniversary. Test notes chosen for the Gaganyaan mission India’s first human spaceflight endeavor. India has chosen four astronaut candidates from an initial rule of 60 IAF test pilots. These selected astronauts have undergone basic training in Russia and now participating in mission-specific training in India.

The selected pilots are Group Captain Prasanth Balakrishnan Nair, Group Captain Ajit Krishnan, Group Captain Angad Pratap, and Wing Commander Shubhanshu Shukla. Last year, Narendra Modi travelled to the US, where Joe Biden announced that the two countries were collaborating to send an Indian astronaut to the ISS (International Space Station). Apart from this, it was noted that ISRO signed a space with Axiom Space, which was a privately funded space infrastructure developer.

The selected four astronauts underwent thorough training for the Gaganyaan mission. Therefore, among these, four out of one astronaut were able to get the chance to be a part of the joint mission with NASA to travel to ISS. This joint collaboration highlights the partnership among ISRO and NASA for space exploration. The selected one has been able to get valuable experience through this mission and support to strengthen the ties between the two space agencies. Through this mission, the country will be able to improve its science and technology levels and effectively inspire the youth.
