Peaky Blinders movie: The Confirmation
Today, Netflix posted on its official Instagram account, Netflix Film, confirming the reality of the Peaky Blinders movie, which is currently in the making. The post made by Netflix almost 16 hours ago depicted the script of the film and the names of the key stakeholders involved: Steven Knight, Cillian Murphy and Tom Harper. The caption of the post, “Tommy Shelby Returns”, has already made the headline, as fans all over the globe show their overflowing support in response to the announcement. The movie will be directed by Tom Harper, following a script by Steven Knight in continuation of season 6, Episode 6.
Cillian Murphy’s Statement
Cillian Murphy stated that the character of Tommy Shelby remained unfinished with him, and hence, he would step in and walk the movie sets again. The actor finds it “gratifying” to collaborate with Steven Knight and Tom Harper to ensure the successful development and release of the much-anticipated film of the Peaky Blinders TV series. He claims that “this is one for the fans”, which essentially shows his gratitude to the many people who found him relevant as an actor with undiscovered talents and capabilities.
Is Margot Robbie in the movie?
The official Instagram account of Netflix “Netflix” has commented on the post made by Netflix Film of the Peaky Blinders movie by saying, “omg wait until Margot Robbie hears about this!!!” which possibly confirms the actress’s involvement. Recently, in a show organized by Variety Studio, Actors and Actors, Margot Robbie claimed herself as a huge Peaky Blinders fan. In the interview, she said that she genuinely wished that the Peaky Blinders movie would become a reality as it would fulfil the dreams of millions of fans anticipating it for a long time.
The ending of Season 6, Episode 6
Tommy Shelby indeed has some important business to handle, as by the end of the series, it is clear that the fascists have desperately tried to misguide him with false information and inaccurate diagnostic reports. He never had “terminal tuberculoma”, and all these were the desperate attempts of the fascists to make him commit suicide.
As he stands in the wagon with all his belongings, he sees a vision where his late daughter Ruby leads him to a pyre of newspapers from which one of them shows a picture of his doctor with Oswald Mosley and Lady Diana in Berlin. The newspaper also mentions the name of the führer, Adoft Hitler, who was also present as the chief guest at the wedding of Mosley and Diana.
What can we expect?
The name Adolf Hitler in the newspaper of a 5-second scene in the last Episode has set a trend of “Tommy Shelby vs Adolf Hilter”, with fans identifying it as a possibility which could be brought as the key theme of the Peaky Blinders movie. Many believe that Tommy Shelby will take down Adolf Hilter, which is entirely fictional and historically inaccurate.
Yet a possible face-off of Tommy with Mosley is very much possible as they indeed had a severe hatred with one another by the end of the 6th Episode. Many questions remain unanswered, hence the movie was a necessary claim of the fans. “Will Tommy Shelby die?” “Will he succeed in taking his revenge?” “What will he do now?” are some that keep the show’s fans rattled with confusion, excitement and high anticipation.
