Zomato and corporate social responsibility
Zomato, the leading food delivery company in India, is found to be showing several efforts towards its commitment to corporate social responsibility. Beyond the focus only on profitability, the company strives for the overall betterment of human beings, the environment and social assets and, therefore, is committed to making an expenditure of a minimum of 2 per cent of the average net profits of the immediately previous three years made by the company, on the CSR activities in each financial year. Reportedly, the company has been seen to provide some exciting updates relating to this in the month of June, this year.
Zomato provides medical aid through its trained delivery partners during roadside emergencies.
Zomato has received immense appreciation on the internet after the announcement of CEO Deepinder Goyal that they provided professional training to thousands of their delivery partners to support people with medical kits and help during critical roadside emergencies.
On June 13, Goyal, on his official X handle (formerly known as Twitter), wrote, “Yesterday in Mumbai, we broke the Guinness World Records for the largest first aid lesson at a single venue, together with 4,300 delivery partners. Over 30,000 @zomato delivery partners are now professionally trained to provide medical aid and help during critical roadside emergencies.” He further included, “Salute and a big thank you to these Emergency Heroes of India.”

Regarding the identification of these emergency heroes, Zomato has issued a post on X that they will have the green plus sign on their bags. Apart from informing regarding the availability of 30000 professionally trained delivery partners to give first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in case of critical roadside emergencies, Zomato has also added in the caption, “We hope you never use this Zomato service.” Under the comment section of this post, several appreciations came from social media users towards this great effort of the food delivery company. Few users have appreciated it as an incredible achievement. Some users also urge other companies involving logistics to integrate such types of great initiatives.

Zomato’s commitment towards the integration of best climate action to cool the planet
In order to observe World Environment Day, 2024, India’s leading food delivery platform, Zomato, has shared an innovative ad campaign by underpinning its promises to achieve 100% EV-based deliveries by 2030. The ad film shows that the delivery partners of Zomato came to the final decision to choose electric vehicles (EVs) after undergoing a number of comedic attempts with some unconventional transport methods to ensure timely deliveries while making it pollution-free.

Pertaining to the campaign, Zomato’s Chief Sustainability Officer, Anjalli Ravi Kumar, said that sustainability is at the centre of Zomato’s business values and principles. The transition to EV-based deliveries is one of the core steps towards the achievement of Zomato’s Net Zero target by 2033. In order to be environmentally responsible, Zomato became the first food delivery company across the world which join the EV100 initiative of Climate Group in 2021. As of 2022, Zomato has successfully integrated EV-based deliveries in 43 Indian cities, as shared by the Climate Group in X handle.
This E-mission of EV-based deliveries will involve hundreds of EV ecosystem players, lakhs of delivery partners and millions of environmentally conscious consumers to become successful. In this green transition, Zomato has collaborated with more than 70 ecosystem partners, which include OEMs, charge point operators, end-to-end logistics services players, battery swapping companies, and pure-play leasing companies. Delhi Government, Niti Aayog, Frost & Sullivan, and many others have acknowledged and awarded Zomato’s effort to electrify deliveries.
