New Zealand Wins ICC T20 Women World Cup: Highlights

The golden steak of New Zealand continues in cricket, whether it is a men’s or women’s team. This was evident when their woman team successfully won the 2024 T20 World Cup that has been hosted in UAE by defeating the South African cricket team by 32 runs.

Winning the toss in Dubai International cricket stadium. South African women’s team chose to field first. Black Caps batting first faced a few difficulties as their openers quickly departed on pavilion but thanks to a good effort by their star all-rounder Amelia Kerr who scored 43 runs in 38 balls with four fours and on the other hand the support of another batsman Brooke Halliday who scored 38 out of 28 runs with three fours. The Kiwis saw themselves scoring 158/5 in 20 overs. Road to finals

New Zealand has been put in group A, where there primary opponents were Australia, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. They maintained their streak of losing consecutive T20 games in the first game itself, as they lost to Australia by 60 runs. However, the New Zealand Women’s cricket team quickly bounced back when they defeated India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka in a row, which helped them advance to the knockout stage. In the Knockout stage, their opponent was West Indies, and the match went down to a nail-biting stage, but finally, they won successfully by eight runs. Thus leading their way on finals.

Meanwhile, the proteas have been placed in a group that has been stated as a group of death by the cricket experts due to having teams such as West Indies and England in the same group. However, except for England, they managed to win all of their games, which is against South Africa, Bangladesh and Scotland.
